Learn about the process of making our barrels

Roble

Oak

In order to achieve an optimal production of our barrels, we start by selecting the best oak wood.

Our timber is made up of wood from the best oak forests of Ohio, Missouri and Virginia (USA), from the forests of Allier, Nevers and Limousin in France, European and Spanish oak.

Nuestras maderas

Our woods

Once in our facilities, the wood is left to dry in the open air for a period of 24 months, exposed to the sun and rain, a natural method for achieving perfect drying and the degree of humidity and tannic richness necessary for the manufacture of the staves, with which we finally finish our barrels.
In this way we manage to counteract the bitterness and astringency of the oak, obtaining at the same time a refinement of the natural aromas of the wood.

Tostados

Toasts

The taming and toasting, two processes that our master coopers carry out in a completely traditional and artisanal way, with fire fed with the same oak wood, controlling the temperature and toasting time, two parameters that allow us to obtain a homogeneous toasting, while preserving the aromatic potential that the oak wood will contribute to the wine during its ageing process.
We elaborate four different types of toasting, adaptable according to the needs and characteristics of each type of wine, in order to obtain the specific aromas that the oenologist needs to give a perfect finish to the wines that his winery produces.
We also produce special toastings for barrels intended for spirits use.

Envinado

Seasoning

We offer our barrels for Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, Amontillado, Moscatel and Porto in prestigious wineries of different denominations of origin.

Calidad

Quality

Our manufacturing process is subjected to the corresponding water and air pressure tightness tests to rule out possible leaks.
The whole process is carried out under the supervision of our ISO9001 quality system.

Trazabilidad

Traceability

We control each manufacturing process by detailing complete information on each of our finished barrels.
Traceability of the main materials in the barrels is ensured by batch and date (Regulation (EC) 178/2002).
